in God’s arms

Childe Hassam

the slowness of breath
in longest days,
protects and restores;
heart subtly seeks,
in beautiful ways.

alas dying leaf
signaling change,
reminds in colors;
texture of old,
my limited range

the sureness of light
in bathing love,
reassembles hope;
sepia dreams pass,
in arms from Above.

temporal defeat

forever in the lens of days
the amber veil soon decays.
we’ll see ourselves in living eyes
penetration of temporal disguise.
God knows our pure heartbeat
He imparts in us worldly defeat.

sincerity

Edgar-Degas-Portrait-of-Giovannina-Bellelli_art.jpg

Edgar Degas

Through a glass
darkly,
it seems –
I seek clarity
of those innermost
things.
If truth lies
awake
on the hem of
inner places
sincere,
waiting to divulge
and alight on my
outer being,
then I pray
for sincerity
for peace so
serene.

peacefully arrived

Van Gogh.jpg

Van  Gogh

Shall times of peace be nevermore?
Accordingly amidst a toil-
My heart is hardly arable soil,
Feebly tranquil in unloving lore.

Spying under harboring stones,
I seek a foreshadowing need-
In a language I cannot read,
Increasing my heart bemoans.

Alas in grateful revelation,
A sound clearer than once before –
God beckoning through the narrow door.
Peacefully arrived to cessation.

the narrow line

Vincent-van-Gogh-Lane-of-Poplars-at-Sunset-6

The narrow line
between Earth and Sky
the softness of your gaze.
The hope instilled
in gentle breeze
reminding of your ways.
I drift along
the earth and sky
in self-determined might
Until such time
I contemplate
a worthless daily fight.
In reflection
I’m astonished by
persistence toward my heart.
In times that pass
and future awaiting
Love shall not soon part.
