How it hurts
to be unsettled.
Peace eludes
only because of
decisions to not
pursue it.
To know is not enough.
Being, is essential.
O, let me be
as God intends
and be relieved
of this steady
walk in emptiness.
Time passes
but vanity lingers.
Scratching for
tomorrow leaves
a vacuum today.
My mind is future,
My heart is past
My angst, now.
I know better
and upon my knees
I alight.
For sanctuary
is the stillness
of a prayer.
