your season

Renoir

The dried grasses of late summer

are bending and sprawling

from dew borne on

the cooler night of a changing season.

Slumber is rejuvenation and dreams

encapsulate fanciful recounts of

life thus far.

Embracing change is

shedding the old skin of the past with

renewal to behold new life.

Weather abides and

turns dismal with fog once again

hovering above the earth as the icy

hoarfrost blankets the ground

to ensure no coldness escapes.

It is natural and it is essential.

As the last rusty leaf from the sycamore falls,

I am reminded all things are as God intends.

Take a deep breath and be reborn into

the change in this, your season.

Absolute’s End

Parrish

Absolute
Black and White –
Resolute
Adamic domicile.
A black storm
Veiling blue sky.
Thin ray
Cast from persistent
Sun steadily
Erodes
Status quo and
Dubious good.
With sunlight
Upon crystalline
Droplets,
Rainbow backdrops
A dove fleeing
Noah’s flood with
Olive branch
Ushering in
An inclusive
Love and a
Greater good.

someone sweet

monet

Monet

When early softness
alights on
tired golden fields,
a scent embodies
the morning.
It is here that
I am young again –
waiting for the school bus
on a country road
without a thought
of being older,
but rather pleasant
hope for an open seat
next to someone sweet.

tired heart

Paul Cezanne
Long gone are those times
of somber sunsets
and restful nights.
How I wish the feeling
of breathing
the predawn air
would never end.
Gardenia scent so rich
in late night dew-
from outside
into my arable
formless soul,
awaiting
the hands of
God
to sow and nurture
a seed of love
in my tender
but tired heart.

#BLM -a response

Maybe it is time
to look at current events
from a higher perspective.
The brutality and response
symbolize a
systemic, societal problem
that is part of our country's history.
Outstretch hands of humility
in compassion and empathy.
Offer ears and hearts
ready to listen.
The twinge of resistance
is buried in deep pride.
We have everything to gain
as a society rich in diverse culture.
Black lives matter,
and yes it is true,
all lives matter,
but in response to the current cry,
is unfortunately steeped in pride
and the wrong response.
The ego of privilege
is so ingrained in white lives,
we are scratching and clawing
in resistance. This is not the solution.
The solution is listening with humility.
Reaching out with compassion.
Offer a love that is from Jesus.
Then we can hope to reach
new middle ground.

Love Serene

A moment without God

The amber hue

of our inward vision

is mired in

doubt.

Flee

to greener leas

of godly peace

to wisdom in

waters deep

and love serene.

moments like these

CASSATT

Mary Cassatt

dream softly.
feel air brush
across somber
downcast eyes.
than the
night desires.
alone, pass from
sorrow to joy
within an
outstretched
love purposed
for moments
like these.

His sight

Hugh Cameron

“Buttercups and Daisies” Cameron 1881

Seek the sight of
HE whose eyes
penetrate our sorrow.
Finding those times
of self-disdain
permeated from deep inside-
painting the ugliness
we see in the glass.
For thus is an
ill-gotten plan
to destroy and draw
us way from the hope
that His sight
will show us,
through a prism
of divine light
passing through
a tear on our cheek,
a beautifully made
child with hope
and love for
all time.

HE is Risen

Out of our self
and into the
soft field of
colors and scents
enveloping our sense
and broadcasting within
that we live for others
because of One.

For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
